WRITING PART 3
A LONGER PIECE OF CONTINUOUS WRITING
QUESTION 8: A STORY

I. Teachers notes:
The story can be anything which fits the title or beginning given. It can be
an everyday incident or fantasy, provided that it is complete and fits the
task given.
Students must start the story with the given sentence, or include the given
title in their story.
Students should remember to keep their story simple so that it can be
completed within the word limit. An incomplete or very overlength story is
unlikely to get full marks.
About 100 words = between 85 and 120 words, so students need not worry
if they do not write exactly 100 words.
The tenses used to tell a story are normally past tense: past simple, past
continuous or past perfect.

A sample answer
It was getting dark and I was completely lost. I knew that I was in the
wood, but I could not find my way. I tryed to use my mobile phone but
there was no signal. I was about to cry when I heard a very strange and
gloomy noise. It was comming from the darkest corner of the wood. At
first, I saw nothing but after a second quick look I realized that there was
something wich was gazing at me. Despite the fact that I knew it was the
time to run away, I was totally unable to move. I was sure it was the end,
when I saw the forest officer coming.
