Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is the largest engineering and manufacturing
enterprise in India in the energy-related and infrastructure sector which includes Power,
Railways, Telecom, Transmission and Distribution, Oil and Gas sectors and many more. It is
the 12th largest power equipment manufacturer in the world. 73% of the total power
generated in India is produced by equipment manufactured by BHEL.

Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) is an Indian Public Sector Undertaking, with headquarters in
Bangalore. It manufactures a variety of heavy equipment, such as that used for earth moving,
transport and mining. BEML has manufacturing plants in Kolar Gold Fields, Bangalore and Mysore.

Navaratnas
Navratna was the title given originally to nine Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), identified
by the Government of India in 1997 as its most prestigious, which allowed them greater
autonomy to compete in the global market.The number of PSEs having Navratna status has
been raised to 19, the most recent addition being Oil India Limited.

Damodar Valley Corporation
The Damodar Valley Corporation, popularly known as DVC, is the first multipurpose
river valley project of independent India. The corporation came into being on July 7, 1948
by an Act of the Constituent Assembly of India.
The initial focus of the DVC were flood control, irrigation, generation, transmission and
distribution of electricity, eco-conservation and afforestation, as well as job creation for the
socio-economic well being of the people residing in and around areas affected by DVC
projects. However, over the past few decades, power generation has gained priority.

Bharat Dynamics Limited
Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) is one of India's manufacturer of munitions and missile
systems. It was founded in 1970 in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
BDL specializes in the manufacture of ammunitions, rifles and panels.

United India Insurance Company Limited is a leading General Insurance Company of India. It was
formed by the merger of 22 companies, consequent to nationalisation of General Insurance. Its Head
Quarters is at Chennai, India.

Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO)
Established in 1967, Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited, also known as IFFCO, is the
worlds largest fertiliser cooperative federation based in India which is registered as a Multistate
Cooperative Society. IFFCO has 40,000 member cooperatives. The Society is primarily engaged in the
production and distribution of fertilisers.

National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC)

NMDC is a PSU involved in the exploration of iron ore, copper, limestone, dolomite, gypsum, tin etc.
It is Indias largest iron ore producer and exporter. It has three fully mechanized mines in
Chhattisgarh and Karnataka. It also operates the only mechanized diamond mine in the country at
Panna in Madhya Pradesh.
Alstom
Alstom is a French multinational conglomerate that works in the area of power generation and
transport (especially railways) markets. According to its website, Alstom has supplied more than 25
pc of the worlds installed power generation capacity.

Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL)

The PSU is responsible for the generation of nuclear power for electricity and construction and
operation of Indias nuclear power plants. It is administered by the Department of Atomic Energy
and is the only power utility company in India which uses nuclear fuel sources. As of June 2010, it
had 19 nuclear reactors in operation at six locations (Rawatbhata, Kakarpara, Narora, Kaiga, Tarapur,
Kalpakkam)
Bhartiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited (BHAVINI)

It is a PSU under the control of DAE established with the objective of constructing and
commissioning the first 500 MWe Fast Breeder Reactor (FBR) at Kalpakkam and to pursue
construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of subsequent FBRs for generation of
electricity.

Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVN)
Formerly known as Nathpa Jhakri Power Corportation (NJPC) was establisedh in 1988 as a joint
venture between GoI and Govt of Himachal Pradesh to planning and operation Hydro-electric power
projects in the area. It is a mini-ratna company.

IIFCL is a dedicated institution purported to assume an apex role for financing and development of
infrastructure projects in the country. It renders financial assistance through:
1. Direct lending to eligible projects
2. Refinance to banks and FIs for loans with tenor of five years or more
