Part1: Case Study Questions
1. What are the core components of Pricelines business model?
2. Do you think Priceline will ultimately succeed or fail? Why?
3. How has Priceline (and similar online services) impacted the travel services industry?

Part2: Projects
1. Would you say that Google and Yahoo are direct or indirect competitors? What about McDonalds
and Macaroni-Grill? Explain why?
2. Given the example of Atari and Nintendo games, which one was the first mover into the market and
which was the fast follower? What advantages and disadvantages does each one have over the other?
3. Visit hamleys.com and describe its business model based on the information you find there. Identify
its customer value proposition, its revenue model, the marketspace it operates in, who its main
competitors are, any comparative advantages you believe the company possesses and what its market
strategy appears to be. Also try to locate information about the companys management team and
organizational structure. (Check for a page labeled the Company, About Us, or something
similar).
