GRACE

Definition of Grace
Grace is Gods unmerited favor.
Unmerited not deserved
Favor - something done or granted as an act of kindness

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that came by Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:23)

Q: If we do not deserve Grace, then why God gave this to us?
A: God loves us (John 3:16)

Grace as a Gift
Grace came from the Latin word Gratia which means free.

Grace is a gift because:
1. We dont work hard for it.
2. We do not pay for it.
3. It is given to us freely.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faithand this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of
Godnot by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The difference between Grace, Blessing, and Mercy
Taking the parable of the prodigal son in the book of Luke as example:
The father gave his prodigal son the share of his riches. (BLESSING)
The father gave his prodigal son a second chance. (MERCY)
The father threw his prodigal son a party. (GRACE)

Blessing has requirements.
Mercy is compassion that leads to forgiveness
Grace is something undeserved, something given out of kindness.

The Essence of Grace
1. Without Grace there is no salvation.
But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also
are. (Acts 15:11)

2. Grace gives us the freedom from sin.
Sin shall not master over you, for you are not under law, but under grace. (Romans 6:14)
