Summary/Abstract

This experiment is about learning the PID controller. The PID controller is
stands for P = proportional, I = integral and D = derivative. It is widely used in
feedback control of industrial processes. This experiment consists of two sections. In
the first section, it is to learn the importance of the vital system characteristics in the
assessment of control loop efficiency. As for the second section, this part is to learn to
evaluate the PID control elements, which are proportional, integral and derivative by
using the PCU computer controlled flow cycle.
In the first section, the experiment is conducted using the LS-330390 PID
program. In the program, the values for PID controller are set according to the values
given. The values can be referred in Table 1. The program is also set up to 6 Liter/min
as the set point. Graphs are obtained using the values of PID controller. Some of the
graphs are fluctuation at the set point area.
The best PID controller response using the original values given is when :
proportional gain = 3.5
integral = 0.01
Derivative = 0
For the second section, only one graph is produced. This part is conducted to
produce the best PID controller response. Some trial and errors with the PID values
occurred in order to achieve this parts objective. From the experiment, it is
discovered that in order to get the best PID controller response is to make sure that the
derivative is 0. Therefore, graph that produced will be near at the set point of 6
Liter/min.
