Final Group Presentation Curriculum Plan


Creative/Title of Lesson: Matching Shapes Focused Domain: Cognitive
Goal: Help children develop matching skills.

Objective: Children will match shapes to a teacher made shape pattern.

Procedure: Teacher will individually interact with one child at a time. Teacher
will start by creating a row of shapes and then handing a shape one at a time to the
child so she/he may match it to the row of shapes.

Advanced Preparation: Have various plastic shapes.

List Materials: Plastic Shapes
Developmental Benefits: Language, social, emotional, physical (fine motor).

Future Plans: Simplify: Have fewer shapes to match in the activity.
Challenge: Add geometrical shapes to match.
Think about how you would transition children during the day to prepare
them for this activity. During group time teacher will have a discussion of shapes, focusing on their
characteristics.
