Topic/Title of Lesson: Hand painting color mixing


Focused Domain: Fine motor skills
Preschoolers
Goal: This activity focuses primarily on the colors red yello! and "lue# $very child !ill
"e given a !hite sheet of paper and t!o colors of paint#
%"&ective: To have the children mix the paints together discovering that "y mixing paint
you "egan to create different colors#
Procedure: '#( )tarting !ith the colors red and yello! the children !as instructed to paint
one hand red and the other hand yello!# Then they made one red handprint and one
yello! handprint on their paper#
*( +ext the kids !ere asked to ru" their hands together and to place them on their paper#
,fter that - asked the children !hat color is created !hen the colors red and yello! are
mixed together in hopes that they discover it makes orange#
.( Then the kids !ashed their hands and got a ne! sheet of paper# This time - painted red
on one hand and "lue on the other hand
/( The kids placed the hand !ith red in one corner and the hand !ith "lue in another
corner - then asked them to ru" their hands together really good and place their hands on
the paper# - asked them !hat color "lue and red makes !hen mixed together and once
again hope they discover it makes purple#
0( 1e continued this activity !ith different colors discovering that "y mixing t!o colors
together !e create another color#

could use a little more support#
