c- Use an apostrophe to form contractions


Lesson 5 Lesson five is a cumulative lesson for the contractions unit. Students will watch
a video that contains all of the types of contractions learned in the unit. Then,
they will use a practice website to choose an activity for additional practice. As
an assessment, the students will watch a Screencast-O-Matic video, created by
the instructor, to learn how to create a word cloud of contractions. Lastly, they
will be asked to create a contraction word cloud using a given list of words in
standard form.
Student Objectives 1. Students will be able to use an apostrophe to form contractions

Procedure 1. Students will review all previously learned contractions by watching the
Brain Pop Video.
2. For additional practice, students will be asked to go to the Practice
Website and choose a contraction practice activity.
3. Students should practice using this website for at least 20 minutes.
4. The instructor will provide students with a video outlining the
assessment and demonstrating how it should be completed. (See activity
and assessment page)
5. Students will be given a list of words in standard form. (See activity and
assessment page)
6. Students should use this list to create a word cloud using apostrophes to
form contractions.
7. Students will e-mail their final product to their instructor.
