Justice Served in Bellaire Cop Killer Case

HOUSTON Yesterday, Harris County District Attorney, Devon Anderson concluded
a two week Capital Murder trial against defendant, Harlem Harold Lewis, III. The
jury found the defendant guilty as charged and sentenced him to death.

This trial is the first time any sitting District Attorney has personally prosecuted a
case before a jury in over a decade in Harris County.

Im pleased we were able to obtain justice for Bellaire police officer, Jimmie
Norman, Good Samaritan, Terry Taylor and all the citizens of Harris County,
Anderson said.

The death sentence verdict serves as a bold reminder to all that taking the life of a
uniformed police officer is among the worst of the worst crimes.

The jury took their duty seriously and carefully examined all of the evidence during
their deliberations before they rendered their decision.

Mrs. Anderson made a commitment to Harris County to personally handle any case
in which a police officer was killed in the line of duty. Its the same promise made by
her late husband, Mike Anderson, during his 2012 campaign.

While no one ever wants prosecute a case like this, I will personally prosecute the
perpetrator every time a tragedy like this occurs. I think it is important for the men
and women in uniform, and all citizens, to know that they have a District Attorney
who is willing to fight for them. Anderson concluded.
