Press Release


The Groton Town Police Department is investigating a larceny that occurred on
Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the NL Shaw Jewelry store, located at 50 West Main St.,
Mystic, CT.

On that day, around 4: OO PM a man entered the business and asked to see some of
the jewelry. At one point while the employees are busy, the man reaches over the
glass case, and takes a diamond ring valued at over $ 19,000.00.

The male is described as a Middle Eastern looking male in his mid 30s, wearing a
green short sleeve button down shirt and jeans.

Entering the store immediately before the suspect was a woman who was described as
a tall Asian Pacific female wearing a red jacket, white shirt and jeans. The female
attempted to sell a valuable ring and a sizable amount of gold to the jeweler. When
denied, the female left the store. The females actions and conduct led investigators to
believe the man and woman were working in concert with one another.
