Adding and subtracting decimals:

1. Line up your number place values and decimal on top of each other.
2. Add or subtract as you would with whole numbers.
3. Bring down your decimal.
Example: 46.7 + 1.34
46.70
+ 1.34
48.04
Always check addition with subtraction.
7
48.04
- 1.34
46.70

Multiplying Decimals:

1. Multiply as you usually would (all three types will work the same).
2. Scoop & count the number of places after the decimals.
3. In your answer scoop to the left that many places.

Example: 4.2 X 1.76
1.76
X 4.2
352
+ 7040
7.392

Dividing Decimals:
1. Use partial quotients to solve division.
2. Make your dividend (number on the outside) a whole number.
3. Scoop that many places on the divisor (inside number).
4. Have the same number of scoops in the divisor and dividend.

For example: 7.26 0.3
What I know Add it up
1X3 = 3 0.3 7.26 200
2X3 = 6 -600 20
3X3 = 9 126 20
5X3 = 15 - 60 + 2
10X3 = 30 66 24.2
20X3 = 60 - 60
50X3 = 150 6
100X3 = 300 - 6
200X3 = 600 0
300X3 = 900

Always check division using multiplication.
24.2
X 0.3
7.26
