Sir Paul McCartney made history as a member of the Beatles - one of the most
successful and critically acclaimed music groups in history; and
Sir Paul McCartney is credited with writing or co-writing 32 number-one
singles on the Billboard Hot 100, and is widely recognized as being one of the
world's top songwriters of the 20th and 21st centuries; and
Sir Paul McCartney was knighted in the United Kingdom and inducted into the
United States of America Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his contributions to the
global rock-and-roll culture; and
Sir Paul McCartney has played in Minnesota three times dating back to 1965,
and will play a fourth concert in Minnesota at Target Field- completing
performances in every Minnesota Twins Baseball Club stadium; and
We come together on Saturday, August 2, 2014, to honor Sir Paul McCartney,
one of the most influential and inspiring musicians in history.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, MARK DAYTON, Governor of Minnesota, do hereby proclaim Saturday,
August 2, 2014, as:
SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY DAY
in the State of Minnesota.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State
of Minnesota to be affixed at the State Capitol
this 28th day of July.
