My values are a collection of ideals I received from my environs. I learned my
principles from my mother directly seeking to do what I see was right and uplifting. She exhibited them through her words and more so her actions. And I learned from my father indirectly because I was determined not to make the mistakes he made. My standards were set by my community family. There were sometimes I was not allowed to do or say. I had to recognize and respect them whether young or old. I learned to look out for others because it was what I felt and to give people the opportunity live and share and voice themselves. My morals are wrapped up in the Word of God and my relationship with Him. I make it my business to check God first before I respond; though not all the time he is my source of satisfaction when I would have made a sound choice. My husband and children, the church family and my close circle of friends also shape my morality. They are my buffers and help to keep me accountable. My ethics are driven from within me. It is my relationship with God. It mirrors my principles that rule my actions. It imitates my standards which are not necessary measured by others but the benchmarks I set out. It reflects the moral God establishes for emulate. Thus today I believe, live, share and promote values, healthy values in all aspect of my life, spiritually, socially, sexually, intellectually and emotionally and I strive to pass on that legacy to the students I teach and reach.
