These diseases cross the different medical specialties, such as rheumatology, endocrinology, hematology,
neurology, cardiology, gastroenterology, and dermatology, and because such specialties usually focus on
singular diseases within their particular category, there has been virtually no general focus on autoimmunity
as the underlying cause.
