Regions of Alaska Presentation

Southeast
The Southeast contains our state capital. Consists of a long
strip of land and hundreds of islands.
The climate is wet and temperate. Temperature averages out
between 35 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
The regional population is 74,423 people.

Juneau, AK is our state capital.
Skagway, AK is a major port for
cruise ship. Tourism is a major
contribution to Skagways
economy.
The main source of the economy is the seafood industries.
In 2011, 396 million pounds of seafood was harvested.
Southwest
Alaskas largest lakes are found in the
Southwest.
Lake Illiamna (1,150 sq. miles), Becharof Lake
(458 sq. miles).
There is much precipitation and the
temperature stays consistently between 30-60
degrees.
Population Trends in Southwest,
AK
The main industry in Southwest, AK is seafood and
Pebble Mine.
Seward, AK is tucked between
mountains and sea creating a point
of the Seward Peninsula.
Little Diomede Island is the only
part of Alaska that you can actually
see Russia.
Russia
Southcentral
Southcentral, AK contains the Alaska Range, Chugach
Mountains, and Mt. McKinley.
Climate is humid and temperature ranges from 9-65 degrees
Fahrenheit.
The total population of Southcentral, AK is 626,932,281
people.
Along with most of Alaska, Southcentral, AK the economy is
sustained by seafood.


Anchorage is Alaskas largest city
at 298,610 people.
The Kenai Fjords National Park is
a very popular tourist attraction.
Interior
Fairbanks which is the second largest town in
Alaska is at the heart of Alaska.
The climate is dry and temperature ranges
from -60 90 degrees.
Interior region population approximates about
114,175 people.
Alaskas Mining Industry has been a main
source for the Interior.
Fairbanks is the hub of Interior Alaska; also
known as the Golden Heart of Alaska.
The Tanana River passes right by
Fairbanks.
Arctic (Far North)
The Brooks Range is right in the center of the
Arctic region.
The Arctic region temperatures range from -20
in the winter to 47 degrees in the summer.
The population of Far North Alaska is about
10,500 residents.
Extremely dependent on oil industry and
seafood.

These houses are about as close
to igloos that we get to.
In the Arctic Region, polar bears
are actually a problem.
