DC STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION AND

THE OFFICE OF THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT OF EDUCATION HOST
COMMUNITY FORUM ON RACE TO THE TOP APPLICATION PROCESS

Washington, DC – The DC State Board of Education (DCSBOE) and the Office of the State
Superintendent of Education (OSSE) will host a community forum seeking input on the District’s
application process for Race to the Top funds. Race to the Top (RTTT) Fund provides
competitive grants to encourage and reward States that are creating the conditions for education
innovation and reform. Please see our event invitation for all pertinent information.

The community forum will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00
p.m. at Friendship Public Charter School, Chamberlain Elementary campus. The
Chamberlain Elementary campus is located at 1345 Potomac Avenue, S.E., located less than one
block from the Potomac Avenue Metro station.

The application requires states to document their past success and outline their plans to extend
their reforms by using college- and career-ready standards and assessments, building a workforce
of highly effective educators, creating educational data systems to support student achievement,
and turning around their lowest-performing schools.
