Article of the Week

Directions:
1. Read the article with annotations. Use the markings as your guide:

= Circle powerful words or phrases that are meaningful to you or you think are
meaningful to the speaker.

= Underline the main idea(s) or topic sentence(s).

= Place a question mark next to any words or passages that are confusing.

= Number the paragraphs so you can easily refer back to them whenever answering
questions about the text.

2. Listen to the teacher read the article aloud and follow along silently.
3. Answer the questions using evidence from the text.
4. Respond to the text in the vocabulary/writing sections.
