The current Google logo was
launched on September 19,
2013. The major difference in
comparison with the previous
logo was the flattening of
shadows on the lettering in
line with the current layout. It
was launched to everyone on
October 2, 2013.
The Google logo from May 31,
1999 to May 5, 2010. This logo
lasted for 10 years and 11 months.
This is still used on the Picasa
software, the Internet explorer
gallery and some portals which are
the only things to contain this logo.




The Google logo from May 6, 2010 to September 18, 2013. The major
difference in comparison with the previous logo was the reduced distance
of the projected shadow behind the word "Google" and the change in
colour of the second "o" from yellow to orange
How vertical apps on smart phones &
tablets chip away at Google search

On smart phones & tablets, the dominant form of content
consumption is via apps and not via a mobile browser. The
reason being that the experience of a web service via a native
app is much better than on a mobile browser, and thereby
most users shift to an app usage paradigm

Google is not necessarily competing with a Bing or Yahoo in
this new world but with apps satisfying the demand.

Google is struggling to maintain its physical availability on
PCs.


Google chrome used to come preloaded as the default on Dell
Computers, but that $1 billion dollar deal between Dell and
Google went the way of the dodo in February 2009. Now Bing
is the default search provider loaded and shipped on new Dell
PCs with the Windows operating system
So in order to stay on top of mind of people
Google is launching the Ads.

In the Ads Google highlights the emotional
connect of the people which creates a long
lasting impression than just advertising the
product features.
