    What is Euthanasia?

    The meaning of euthanasia is mercy killing.And generally applied to patients


    who are beyond recovery.

    Following are not Euthanasia

    stopping medically futile treatment which has more burden than
    benefits.
    giving treatment aiming for relieve but has a side effect of shortening of
    life span,,,confusingly known as double effect.
    if a knowledgeable patient refuses to take treatment,doctors cant force
    them.and it is absolutely legal.and from the effect of this if the patient
    dies it is not euthanasia
    Different type of euthanasia

    there are two types of euthanasia
    Active euthanasia: Doctors injected drug leads to cardiac arrest.
    Passive Euthanasia: Involves pulling out the life support.

    1996:Right to live with dignity includes right to die with
    dignity,legislature to decide on passive euthanasia
    2011:Allowed passive euthanasia while rejecting plea to end life of
    aruna shanbaug.
