Modeling tips for cotter pins.

(Section 1)
1. Draw a rectangle of length 4D and width 1.3D such that the center of rectangle coincides with
the origin. Then extrude the rectangle to 0.3D
For providing the taper on cotter pins use slope 1:30 or 1:50
i.e. the taper angle is calculated as Tan(1/30) = 1.9 degrees .
2. Using draft option, select the surface on the side where u want to provide taper and choose the
center plane as the hinge for draft surface. (It is top plane in my model).
After providing the taper use full round for rounded edges as shown.

3. Make uniform recantgular (1.4D X 0.3D) holes in shaft and follow step 2 for providing taper
and then apply rounds for rounded edges.
Further clarifications meet me in E 121 after 4:00 pm on weekdays and 2:00 pm on weekends.
Also students of section 2 can follow the above steps according to the dimensions given in the
question.
