METHOD OF STATEMENT FOR DEMOLITION OF BRICK WALL PARTITIONS FOR

WINDOW OPENINGS



Equipment to be used
Hand operated Electrical breaker
Electrical Grinder


Protection

Prior to the hacking the architraves and items to be restored which are affected due to
hacking will be protected by plywood sheets.


Steps

1. The opening outer line will be cut with the electrical grinder for demarcation of the border
and for a neat finish.
2. Hand operated electric breaker will be used for the demolition by hacking method.
3. Warning tapes shall be used for the cordon of the hacking area to be demolished.
4. A 100mm thick brick layer will be removed first above the demolition area and then timber
planks will be inserted as shown in the figure below to ensure the stability of the brick wall
layer above.

5. Then required brick wall portion shall be hacked by manual hacking from top down.
6. Water shall be used during the hacking process to reduce the dust propagation.
7. Once the entire panel is hacked away, the temporary timber lintel will be propped by timber
props for further stability. See figure 2.

8. The hacked debris will be disposed off from site.
