Simple Future tense We use simple future tense to express future actions. Usage: Future actions Predictions Voluntary actions Promises Requests Examples: Campbell will join next week. (Future action) I think it will rain tonight. (Prediction) I will do it for you. (Voluntary action) I will certainly bring the book. (Promise) Will you please collect the cheque? (Request)
Structures: S =Subject; M.V =Main Verb; O.W =Other Words Positive statement:
S + will + M.V + O.W Examples: Jackson will call her. Abigail will complain about them.
Negative statement:
S + will not + M.V + O.W S + wont + M.V + O.W Examples: Benjamin will not cry for the loss. Ava and Mia wont confess their guilt.
Yes/ No Positive question:
Will + S + M.V + O.W? Examples: Will Lucas challenge him? Will Lily confuse the teacher?
Yes/ No Negative question:
Will + S + not + M.V + O.W? Wont + S + M.V + O.W? Examples: Will James not clean the cupboard? Wont Avery cheer for her team?
Wh Positive question:
Wh + will + S + M.V + O.W? Examples: How will William concentrate on his studies? When will Owen consider the offer?
Wh(y) Negative question:
Why + will + S + not + M.V + O.W? Why + wont + S + M.V + O.W? Examples: Why will Emily not deliver the material? Why wont Charlotte dress right for the occasion?
