OBJECTIVE: Increasing understanding of self and the world through a variety of theatrical experiences.

Theatre I-IV MATERIALS REQUIRED:
- 1 or smaller 3-ring binder with notebook paper
- 3-hole pencil pouch for your Binder that contains
o Pencils
o Highlighters
o Scissors
o A Glue Stick
JVAP/Advanced Productions MATERIALS REQUIRED:
- 1 3-Ring Binder with dividers (5-8)
- Headshot (nice 8x10 of your head, shoulders up) x5
- A 3-hole pencil pouch for your Binder that contains
o Pencils
o Highlighters
o Tabs or Flags (several different colors)
o Scissors
o A Glue Stick
- A plastic tub which contains
o Beach towel
o Character shoes
o Make up remover/face wash
o Travel size shampoo, comb/brush, hairspray/gel
o Theatre make-up kit
Girls=base, powder, eyeliner, lipstick, blush, mascara, eye shadow, hairbands, bobby pins
Boys=base, powder, brown eyeliner, natural lipcolor

FEES/DUES:
Theatre I-IV/Advanced Production:
- Theatre I = No fee
- Theatre II-IV = $20
- JVAP/Advanced Productions = $50
- All JVAP and AP Theatre students must purchase a $10 T-shirt from the booster club. All other theatre students are
highly encouraged to purchase a t-shirt, but not required.
Extracurricular:
- Fall Show Participation = $25
- Musical Participation = $50
- UIL One-Act Play = $50
These fees are only due for those students who are cast in these productions. Once a student is cast they have 2 weeks to pay their
dues.
***Scholarships are available for those students whose families are in financial hardship. Please let Mrs. Smith know if you are
unable to pay. NO STUDENT will be restricted from participating in theatre activities because they are unable to pay!!!

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS:
1. BE PREPARED at the BEGINNING OF CLASS!!
2. Follow the THEATRE PACT at all times to ensure a good learning environment.
3. No HORSEPLAY at any time.
4. Listen to directions the FIRST TIME.
5. DO NOT TOUCH PROPS/CURTAINS/ETC.!
6. NO FOOD OR DRINK in the Auditorium OR Blackbox. WATER is permitted in a sealable container.
7. CLEAN UP!
8. RESPECT YOURSELF, RESPECT OTHERS, AND RESPECT THE SPACE!!
If you choose to NOT follow the rules:
1. Warning from Mrs. Smith
2. Loss of daily participation points
3. Parent Contact
4. Office referral

GENERAL CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:
When class starts:
1. Pick up actors binders and stow backpacks in the designated area.
2. Students WILL be seated and by the time the last bell has rung.
3. Business Meeting.
4. Physical and vocal warm-ups.
5. Main activity (lesson, rehearsal, game, etc.)
When class ends:
1. Before the class bell rings, depending on the activity, all students will assist in cleaning and returning the room to its
original order.
2. Actors Journal (i.e. goals, lessons learned, vocab. Etc.) This must be done before they are allowed to leave the room.

GRADES:
**Please note: In addition to its own grading policy, Rouse High School Theatre Department follows the grading guidelines out lined
by Rouse High School and Leander ISD.**

Daily Participation/work/homework: (50%)
Participation:
All required materials each day
Classroom behavior
Positive contribution to the classroom activities and environment
Daily work/Homework:
Any work done in class that is not part of a performance, script reading, or performance critique. Homework is given in this class
sparingly. Most homework will be memorizing lines and preparing for performances/auditions.

Actors Binders (10%):
This will be the students record of all grades and work returned to them. In addition to the state adopted Theatre textbook, the
students will be receiving hand-outs, and other information. They will place all notes, vocabulary, play scripts, journal entries and
other materials within each section of their binder. Having all of the corresponding materials together in one section will help the
student be better organized.
Actors Notebooks will be LEFT IN THE BLACKBOX and NEVER TAKEN HOME!!!

JV Advanced Productions (Graded):

Extracurricular (NOT Graded):
- Students in Theatre I-IV are NOT required to participate at all in any extracurricular production
but are always welcome to audition.
- Students JV Advanced Productions ARE required to participate/audition for ONE extracurricular
production. (Casting is not guaranteed)
- Students in Advanced Production ARE reguired to participate/audition for ALL extracurricular
productions. (Casting is not guaranteed)
