PARAG J. DUTTA
Parag is a fulltime member of faculty in the Department of Geology at Cotton College, a premier
institution of higher education of the NE region of India. His work profile involves delivering
lectures as well as pursuing active research. He teaches several courses at the undergraduate &
postgraduate levels: ore geology, petroleum geology, stratigraphy, geo-exploration, aerial photo
interpretation and Geographic Information Science. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the
Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. His research interests lie in the areas of geostatistical
simulation & modeling of ore deposits, resource evaluation and financial risk management. He
looks forward to a career in consulting & research addressing the mineral industry.

CAREER SUMMARY

Parag has an academic background in exploration geology with a total work experience of around
9 years. He started his career with Rolta India Ltd. in the year 2000 and was responsible for
providing leadership to a dedicated team of professionals in designing and demonstrating
software solutions in the field of Geoinformatics. His domain expertise included a number of allied
technologies such as satellite image processing, digital photogrammetry, terrain modeling, etc., in
the natural resources segment. In the year 2003, he switched to a career in academics and has
been serving continuously as a fulltime faculty member in Cotton College.
