Expectations and Goals for Latin Students

--Things your teacher expects:

--a true and honest effort from all students
--courtesy, integrity, patience, and tolerance from all students
--the development of the emotional, social, intellectual, and
academic growth of all students.
--Things to expect from your teacher:
--passion, enthusiasm, and imagination in teaching combined with
challenging work, high standards, and meaningful lessons.
--honesty, fairness, and consistency in evaluating student work.
--courtesy, integrity, patience, and tolerance.
--and, on the more practical side, you can EXPECT the following in Latin
class:
--frequent quizzes; notebook checks; frequent opportunities to make up
poor grades; bad puns and wordplay; digressions not at first glance
related to Latin; brief Italian lessons; homework assignments that
should take no more than 20-25 minutes of dedicated time nightly;
the teacher to call on you if you avoid eye contact; to laugh and
learn a lot; to work from bell to bell.
--GOALS WE SHOULD ALL HAVE:
--to develop a love and enthusiasm for something meaningful
--to go forward, to grow, to aspire toward excellence
--to reject the common, the ordinary, and the mediocre
--to ask for help and forgiveness when required
--to appreciate always our families, friends, and good health
--to never ever wish time away
