Downtown Ambassadors: Making a Difference

The Downtown Ambassadors are on the streets year-round, making your

downtown a cleaner and safer place to be. The Ambassadors are easy to spot,
wearing bright “safety green” shirts in warm weather and bright blue jackets in
inclement weather.

The Downtown Dayton Partnership introduced the Ambassador Program in

2006 to provide services above and beyond those already provided by other
public and private entities. Ambassador duties include picking up litter, power-
washing sidewalks and removing graffiti. They also patrol on bicycles and on
foot, serving as extra eyes and ears for the Dayton Police Department. Most
importantly, they serve as goodwill ambassadors providing assistance to downtown visitors, workers and
residents.

“Clean & Safe Ambassadors” are a common sight in downtowns across the United
States. In addition to the tangible services they provide, the Ambassadors also
make urban environments seem friendlier just by their presence.

To manage the day-to-day operations of the program, the Downtown Dayton

Partnership hired Block by Block, a company that has experience providing these
types of services in cities around the country. Block by Block has hired and trained
local residents to serve as Ambassadors.

If you need to contact the Ambassadors directly, they can be reached at
