Board Development Tour

and Luncheon
Summer Youth Programs

Twenty of Chicagis Business and
community leaders were given a grand tour
of New World Christian Ministries facilities
on June `6, 1983. Following the tour, the
guests were treater to a delicious luncheon
at the Douglass-Tubman Christian center.

Te primary purpose of this afair
was to alert these leaders to the kind of
work the ministry is doing, and to ask for
their assistance either as volunteers on the
Board of New World, or as consultants in
other areas of the organization.
NWCM was applauded by these lead-
ers for its leadership in promoting harmony
and brotherhood among all people of the
city. Many also expressed theri desire to
help the organization throughout the com-
ing year.

New World Christian Ministries has
employed sixty teenagers for the summer
youth progam initiated by Mayor Harold
Washington.
Tis program is designed to help de-
velop the skills of underpriviledged youths.
Te operation of these programs
takes place at 5010 W. Chicago Avenue and
the Douglass Tubman Christian Center (30
W. Garfeld Blvd) under the supervision of
Mr. Ferris C. Cassius, Jr.
Te youths are taught skills in the
areas of
- Beautifcation of Community Envi-
ronment
- Clerical Work (typing, fling, etc.)
- Music, arts and languages
New World Christian Ministries go active
