Task 4:
Refer to spreadsheet for more information.
1. How many tickets, CDs, T-shirts and other merchandise items need to be sold to
cover expenses and earn the band a $50,000 profit?
My band is earning a profit of more than $50 000.

Therefore no extra merchandise is needed to increase profit.

2. What if ticket sales are slow and the band spends an extra $12,000 on promotion?
How many extra tickets at each venue will need to be sold?
12000 ($60 x 75%) 8 = 33.333333

Therefore 34 more tickets will need to be sold.

3. What if the bands percentage of ticket takings was reduced from 75% to 65%?
How would this affect the number of ticket sales needed to cover expenses or the
bands profit?
65% of $60= $39
New profit per ticket is $39
$39 x 600 x 8= $187,200
The new total profit of ticket sales is $187,200
Therefore the new total income amount is $246, 840
New total income amount-total expenses= profit/loss ($) = -$1,454.82

Therefore, if ticket takings were reduced to 65%, it would greatly affect the number
of ticket sales needed to cover expenses and the bands profit. The band would have
lost $1,454.82.

4. Calculate the average daily cost for the tour. How would profits be affected if there
was an unexpected 2 day delay travelling to Uluru?
Total cost tour is $248,294.82
Average daily cost for the tour= $248,294.8214 = $17,735.34
If there was an unexpected 2 day delay travelling to Uluru, the band would have to
miss out on the Perth and Adelaide concert.
This would mean that 1/8 of the total income would be lost because they cannot make 1
out of the 8 concerts.
They would have wasted $745 because they couldnt make the Uluru tour.
Once they reach Uluru they would need to fly straight up to Adelaide to continue their

day 10 schedule.
This would mean that they would have to reschedule their flight from Alice springs to
Perth and pay for the extra fees because of the rush.
Since they cannot stay overnight at Alice Springs nor Perth, they would have to cancel
their bookings and pay a total of $75 for the cancellation.
The meals for the 2 days would have to be missed meaning that $300 was wasted towards
the meals.

Therefore profits would be affected by a cancellation of a concert ($43,455.00 lost), a new
booking flight from Alice springs to Adelaide + extra fees. They would have wasted $745
on the Uluru bus tour and the meals.
