Euckers Third Grade Classroom Expectations

Classroom Management
Our third grade classroom runs very well with positive discipline. The kids are all given
guidelines and expectations. They are all doing a wonderful job! The number one rule in
our classroom is to treat everyone and everything with respect.
Positive Behavior System
BE !" BEST
Children at Bethke have the opportunity to earn BOB bucks. BOB stands for Be Our
Best.! Children will be given a BOB when they demonstrate exceptional responsibility"
respect" honesty" and integrity which are the character traits at the center of our
#ositive Behavior $ystem at Bethke. On %riday&s ' will draw a number of BOB&s and the
children who have BOB bucks drawn will receive some type of reward. They&ll get to
choose!
#The Basket$
The entire class can earn sticks to fill the basket.! $ticks are earned" for example" by
participating well in their $pecials classes" being active listeners" working hard in class"
and cooperating well with each other or being given a compliment by someone outside the
classroom. Once the kids have reached their ()) stick goal" they are rewarded as a class
with an extra recess" extra reading time" games" a popcorn party" and other such fun!
The Stop %ight System
Green& *ll students start out each day on green. This means that they are in control"
that they have come to school ready to learn" and that they will continue to be active
learners throughout the day.
'ello(& This is a warning to get his+her behavior under control. ,o other warning will be
given. -ids who forget their homework or do not get their planners signed are instructed
to move their stick to .ellow. * few minutes of recess will be used to discuss why the
child has had to move to yellow and how he+she can change the choices that he+she made
next time.
"ed& The kids already understand that going to /ed is something to take seriously. The
student is given time to think about the behavior and then we will discuss what
conse0uence best fits the undesired behavior" and how the particular behavior needs to
change. ,otes home will accompany a student1s red that will need to be signed by the
parent and the student and returned the next school day.
