Dear Global Scholars, Parents, and Guardians, It is our distinct pleasure
to welcome you to the 2014-2015 school year and hope you had a
wonderful summer break.
School Hours: 8:20 AM-3:35 PM
Please do not sign students out after 3:00 unless an emergency
New Assistant Principals at Irmo Middle School
Mr. Sava has worked in District Five for the past two years as an Assistant Principal at Dutch
Fork Middle School. Prior to that, he served as the Social Studies De-
partment Chair at Dutch Fork Middle and a social studies teacher at St.
Andrews Middle School in Richland School District One. Mr. Sava is
dedicated to student achievement, teacher growth, and programmatic
support given to students and staff members. He is results oriented, task
oriented, energetic, student centered, and works to establish a healthy
and productive rapport with students and staff members. His knowledge
of our school and district initiatives will be a great asset and allow us to
maintain continuity.
This year begins Mrs. Major-Murphys first year as Assistant
Principal at Irmo Middle School. Previously, she was the Assistant
Principal at Newberry Middle School for three years. She served as
a Career &Technology teacher for nine years in Lexington School
District 5 before becoming an administrator. Mrs. Major-Murphy
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Retail Management from
the University of South Carolina, a Masters degree in Educational
Administration also from USC, and completed an Educational
Specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from Walden University.
Mrs. Major-Murphy became a National Board Certified Teacher in
Career &Technical Education in 2005.
Mrs. Major-Murphy is married with three beautiful children ages 15,
7, and 2 years old. As Assistant Principal, Mrs. Major-Murphy will
primarily work with eighth grade students and teachers.
