EFFECT OF VIOLENT MOVIE ON CHILDREN

Violent movie negatively affects attitudes of children. Nowadays, movie is very
interesting, especially violent movie because of its fantastic action scenes and amazing sound
effects. However, it is also very terrible. In a violent movie, for example, Blood and Sand, you
can see many abuses, many fights and there is always blood. Unfortunately, violent movie is one
of the most popular forms of entertainment. Over sixty percent of television shows contains
some forms of violence. It is very easy for children to watch a violent movie. Because minds of
children are just like white papers, they absorb everything without selecting. Therefore, watching
too many violent movies can create some faulty thoughts in their minds. Children who view
violent movie are more likely to have increased feelings of hostility, decreased emotional
response to the violence and injury that lead to violent behavior through imitation. A research
reported that it was more 49 percent of violent acts by heavy viewers of TV violence than by
light viewers in the past six months. Another research team studied a group of six- to ten-year-
olds over fifteen years. They found that both boys and girls who viewed television violence
committed more aggression during young adulthood. There is no doubt that violent movie makes
really bad effects on people, especially on children. In my opinion, violent movie should be
limited to protect children from being negatively affected.
