Masbate candidate awaits airlift to manila after shooting

incident

LEGAZPI CITY--An incumbent member of the provincial board of

Masbate Island is in serious condition after suffering gun shot
wounds and is awaiting airlift to Manila.

This is the first election-related violence after contending

camps filed their Certificate of Candidacy (COC) in the
province. Masbate is identified for political goons and
dynasties for decades that subject the province to be considered
election hot-spot during previous elections.

Sketchy police reports identified the victim as Jesus Chiu 57,

an incumbent 3rd-termer board member of Masbate Island province
who is running for Vice Mayor of Uson town.

Police has yet to identify the two suspects who had remained at
large after the shooting that occurred are around 3:30 this
afternoon, one firing while the other serving as lookout.

Chiu was gunned down at Mabini St., Masbate City hitting the
lungs and other parts of his body.

suspects used 9 mm pistol.

Chiu was rushed to Masbate College Hospital for wounds affecting

his lungs and was recommended to be airlifted to Manila by
attending physician.

The victim is allied with Masbate 3rd district congresswoman

Rizalina Seachon who is also vying for Governor who believes
that politics is behind the shooting incident.

Chiu filed COC for vice mayor of Uson under Felipe Sanchez.
witnesses said they hear two gunshots during the incident while
Chiu was about to alight a passenger tricycle when he was.

Chiu used to be an ally of Congressman Antonio Kho but is now

running with Seachon.
