5. Halal Policy
[Company must ma+e Halal olicy' ,eclaration of halal policy is a be)innin) step and become a fundamental
of a company in settin) up and implementin) Halal Assurance System (HAS)'
Halal policy is a written statement of company commitment to produce halal product continuously and
consistently& includin) consistency in usin) and providin) material (raw& additive& and supportin) materials)&
as well as consistency in halal production process' -xample( ./0 Co Ltd is committed to consistently
produce halal products in meetin) consumers needs includin) those of the "oslem consumers' 1e will
achieve this by (

6. Halal Mana8emen Team
[7op mana)ement must establish a Halal "ana)ement 7eam that has the authority to or)ani5e& mana)e and
evaluate the halal assurance system' Halal mana)ement team is a )roup of people appointed by top
mana)ement that has responsibility for plannin)& implementation& evaluation and continuous improvement in
the company8s halal assurance system'*'

7. /ritten procedure for Critical Acti!itie"
[Company must have written procedures re)ardin) the implementation of critical activities' 7he
procedure name must be adjusted to the company needed' 7he scope of critical activities may include
new material selection6vendor approval& material purchasin)& product formulation& incomin) materials
chec+in)& production& cleanin) of production facilities& material and product stora)e'
1. 9ew material selection means process to choose a new material and its approval to be used' 7he new
material includes the existin) material with new manufacturers and materials that previously do not listed
in the in)redient list that has approved by L!" "$%' 9ew material selection procedure shall ensure
that every material that will be used for certified products have been approved L!" "$%' 7he
evidence of new material selection must established and maintained'
2. 7he procedure of product formulation& if any& must ensure that all materials used in formulation is
approved by L!" "$% Standard formula is formula of products which become a reference for
production department' Standard formula may be hard copy& soft copy& or other forms in accordance with
the prevailin) system in the company' :atification of the standard formula can be done by si)ned of the
authori5ed party& load up the in the operatin) system& or other means accordin) to the prevailin) system
in the company'
3. rocedure must ensure that every purchased material that will be used for certified products is approved
by L!" "$%' urchase6procurement of materials can use the list of materials or its derivatives as
reference to do purchasin)' 7he purchasin) proof should be established and maintained'
4. %ncomin) material procedure must ensure the suitability of information written in the supportin) document
of those materials with information appeared on the label' 7he information includin) the name of
material& name of producer& country of ori)in& and halal lo)o (if supportin) document of the material
re;uired it)' 7he form of incomin) raw materials inspection can be made separately or combined with
other forms such as forms for ;uality inspection' 7he proof of incomin) raw material inspection should be
established and maintained'
5. roduction procedure must ensure (i) 7he formula (if any) that use must be the same with standard
formula& (ii) 7he materials that are used in the production process are have been approved by L!"

production should be established and maintained'
6. Cleanin) of production facilities e;uipment must ensure can dismiss najis' Cleanin) is preferred to use
water& and if cleanin) by water is not possible& then it can use non#water materials such as dextrin&
maltodextrin& brushed or exhaled air' "aterials that used for cleanin)6 washin) may not be derived form
haram6najis material' 7he proof of cleanin) or washin) activities should be established and maintained'
7. 7he procedures of material and product stora)e& includin) stora)e in temporary or in between
warehouse should ensure no contamination of materials6products by haram6najis material' 7ransportation
of material and products& should ensure no contamination occur from haram and najis material'

8. Written procedure for Handling products that do not meet criteria
[Company must have a written procedure to handle the products which were already made from materials
and6or produced in facilities that are not complyin) with criteria' roducts that are not complyin) with criteria
must not be sold to the consumers who re;uire halal products' roducts that are not complyin) with criteria
and already sold must be withdrawn' *
9. Traceability System
[Company must have a written procedure to ensure the traceability of certified product' %n term of the
company already have procedures of traceability for ;uality mana)ement system and food safety purposes&
then the procedures is considered sufficient as lon) as can prove the certified products produced by usin)
materials that approved by L!" (list of approved materials) and produced in the production facility that
meet with the criteria of production facility' %f the company implements materials codin)& hence the company
must ensure( (i) materials with the same code must have same halal status (ii) traceable information of
materials in every critical activity'*

10. Training and Education
[Company must have written procedure for the implementation of Halal Assurance System trainin) of all
personnel involved in critical activities& includin) new employees' %mplementation of trainin) procedures may
include( )oal 6 tar)et& schedule& participants& methods& trainers& materials& documentation& evaluation and
)raduation indicator' *

11. 3nternal Audit
[Companies must have written procedures of the internal audit of halal assurance system implementation
7he scope of internal audit is the implementation of all aspects of halal assurance system and evidence of
implementation' %n )eneral& the activity bein) audited are halal policy establishment and its sociali5ation&
assi)nment of halal mana)ement team and responsibility of its implementation& fulfillin) the criteria of
materials& production facilities& products& implementation of critical activities written procedures& traceability of
certified products& the handlin) of products that do not meet the criteria for materials and facilities production&
delivery report of six monthly report after conducted internal audit and mana)ement review' %nternal audit is
scheduled at least six months or more as it may re;uired' %nternal audit should be conducted by an
independent party to the party bein) audited' %ndependent parties can be derived from the department 6
division 6 section that is different from the audited party or parties specifically desi)nated to conduct an
internal audit' 7he result of internal audit is delivered to the parties who are responsible for audited
activities'*

12. Management Review
[7he company must have a written procedure of mana)ement review' "ana)ement review has to be done
scheduled at least once a year or more as it may re;uire' "aterials of mana)ement review can be derived
from the result of internal and external audit' 7he implementation of mana)ement review can be done
separately or combined with mana)ement review for other system'*
