What are the objectives of this
project?

OBJECTIVES
To explore the work of the relevant artists, designers,
photographers and crafts people.

To be inspired by natural forms and patterns found in
nature.

To experiment with a wide range of art materials and
techniques.

To show a clear journey of thoughts and ideas throughout
your project.

To clearly explain your thoughts and ideas through images
and written annotation.

To develop a 2D FINAL PIECE and 3D FINAL PIECE of
artwork that reflects your artist research, the materials you
have experimented with and the ideas you have developed.

Research several Contemporary or
Historical artists that have produced work
based on and inspired by Natural Forms.

Primary visit an art gallery/exhibition.

Secondary - print lots of source information
and images in colour. Use the internet,
libraries and books.

You will later use these influences to inform
your own ideas and development.

Week 1 Lesson 1 Task (60 Mins)
Tasks-
1. Start sketching Natural Forms you see in the
Art Room. Complete 2 small line drawings on A5
sheets of paper. (15 mins)

2. Brainstorm your ideas of possible things to
collect. (make a list in your DW) (5 Mins)

3. Are there any artists you know already that
are inspired by Natural Forms? Write their names
down. (5 mins)

4. Start to collect images of Natural Forms from
the magazines provided. Use both primary
research and secondary research - use books,
newspapers and magazines as well as the
internet. These references will inform your ideas
and be used as a starting point for your own
work. (15 Mins)

5. Take photos from various angles and
compositions of objects that are in the room.
(15 mins)

learn about the sculptor Antoni Gaudi

La Sagrada Familia v Sedum Acre
Tall spiky towers of the cathedral is inspired
by the structure of the Sedum acre plant.
Gaudi was inspired by
nature
Glory Faade v Caves of Nerja, Malaga
The columns of the cathedral reflect the
stalactites & stalagmites found in the Caves of
Nerja.
Colonia Guell church v Mont Blanc
These snowy
peaks create the
churchs spires
giving it a
mountainous
appearance in
shape from a
distance.
La Sagrada Familias columns v Tarragona
forest canopies.
Carved tree trunks change into
branch like structural supports
inspired by natures forests
raising our eyes to the patterns
dancing in the leaves above.

of Line Drawings based on your response to Natural
Forms See next slide.

with for next weeks lesson.
