Homework will not normally be
assigned. If a child has work to do at home it
is because they were absent or was not able
to finish it in school because of time
management.
Independence is important to help
students build self-esteem and self-
confidence. Please encourage it with your
child at home.
Jobs Please practice reading and math
skills at home, but keep it fun. They spend
all day at their jobs so 15-20 minutes of
games and review is all they need.
Kindness All students will be expected
to treat their classmates and others with
respect and kindness.
Lunch time will be at 11:34. Library
will be once a week. The students will be
able to check out one book at a time. They
will not be able to check out another book
unless the other book is returned.
Math We will be using a different math
program this year, McGraw-Hill My Math.
It has many online resources for you to use
with your child. More information to come!
Notes will be sent home from the
teachers and office throughout the year.
Please keep an eye out for them and respond
accordingly.
Office Mrs. Grande and Mrs. Bryant
work in the office. Please check in with them
upon entering the school.
Progress Reports will be sent home at
the end of each quarter. These reports
reflect the progress your child has made
toward 2
nd
Grade Standards and
Benchmarks, as well as your childs
behavior and character.
Four Quarters Parent-Teacher
Conferences will be held the end of the first
and third quarters.
Recess Your child will have recess
before school and after lunch. Please send
the appropriate cold weather gear during
the winter months.
Snack Break We will have one snack
break daily. Please send a healthy snack to
school with your child. Students will have a
choice of milk as well.
Tardy Please have your child to school
and ready to go by 8:40. It is important that
the students are ready to learn when the bell
rings at 8:45.
Unique Each child is unique in their
own special way. We will do everything
possible to allow students to show classmates
their special talents.
Visitors are required to check in at the
office and receive a pass that must be worn
in sight at all times. If you do not have a pass
you will be asked to return to the office to
receive one. This is for the safety of all
students.
Work Times We will have different
work times through the day. We will have
Reading groups in the morning and early
afternoon. Math, Social Studies, and Science
will be later in the afternoon. Water bottle
Please send a spill proof bottle to school with
NO straw for your child to use throughout
the school day.
ZZZZZ Please help your child
get plenty of sleep each night so they are
rested and ready for a busy day at school.
Setting and keeping a bedtime routine is a
wonderful gift you can give to your child. It
will help them be alert and ready to learn
each day.
