WEEKLY TOP 5

2012 CALIFORNIA 31-24
Nevada played Cal in the Bears`
frst game at Memorial Stadium
in three years. The game went
down to the wire. With a minute
remaining and the game tied, the Wolf Pack
scored on a three-yard touchdown run. The
Pack won seven games that year and lost to
Arizona in the New Mexico Bowl.
1991 UNLV 50-8
In Nevada`s fnal season as a
Division I-AA team, it defeated
in-state rival UNLV by 42 points
in Reno. The Wolf Pack fnished
12-1 in 1991 its only loss coming in the
quarterfnals of the playoffs. This game was
the third of Nevada`s fve-game winning streak
against the Rebels from 1989-1993.
2003 SOUTHERN
UTAH 24-23
Similarly to this year, the
Thunderbirds were no rollover
FCS warm-up game in 2003. Southern Utah
led by a feld goal after one half at Mackay
Stadium. Nevada scored late in the third
quarter and then added a feld goal late in the
fourth to go up 24-17. Two and a half minutes
later the Thunderbirds scored and needed
just an extra point to tie the game with three
minutes left, but the kick was blocked. Nevada
snuck away with a one-point victory in the
opener of what would become an average
season.
1947 NORTHERN
ARIZONA 50-0
Nevada pounded the Lumberjacks
in Reno en route to a 9-2 record in
1947 and the Salad Bowl trophy.
1945 POCATELLO
MARINE BASE 65-0
The Pocatello Marine Devil Dogs
was a team comprised of combat
veterans recovering from wounds and sickness
after World War II. This wasn`t a victory for
Nevada so much as a victory for America.

receiver Jerico Richardson (13
receptions, 177 yards). On Friday
they will play Mike Leach and
the Washington State Cougars
under the lights of Mackay
Stadium. Washington State lost
its rst game to Rutgers by 3
points, and the Cougars will look
to salvage their non-conference
record against the Wolf Pack.

After earning the starting job halfway through the
2011 season, Fajardo played like a true opening
season starter against Cal in 2012. He threw for
230 yards and rushed for 97, leading the Wolf
Pack to a 7-point victory. By season-end, Fajardo
accumulated almost 4,000 yards of total offense
and was named All-Mountain West Second Team.
