Impractically Practical Perpetual Presentation Delivery Device

Project

Essential Question:
Throughout human history, how have major discoveries and inventions in science and mathematics
impacted humanity?

Project Description:
In this cross curricular project students will be looking at the essential question, How have major discoveries and
inventions in science and mathematics shaped our modern world? Inspired by Rube Goldberg, we will be using
modern technology, to design and fabricate a complex interconnected machine installation, which presents these
major historical events in unique ways.

Learning Outcomes (Humanities):
SWBAT:
- Gather information from multiple sources (print and digital)
- Assess credibility and accuracy of research sources
- Annotate text to Organize understanding and reflection
- Use research and evidence to Develop a thesis statement
- Structure a scientific research paper and properly cite research using APA format
- Draw connections and Reflect on significant events and their impact on humanity

Learning Outcomes (Math/Science):
SWBAT:
-Develop and create models of the 6 simple machines
-Demonstrate and communicate how energy is transferred within a system of machines
-Understand cause and effect within systems and system models
-Use a variety of physical science concepts and engineering mechanics to create a system of machines
that interact to carry out a specific function.
-Identify common science and engineering practices connecting the various scientific disciplines
(chemical, physical, and biological).
