Crew Job Descriptions

Assistant Managers help recruit other

Crew members, coordinate work schedules, and
delegate and follow up on tasks.
Team Leaders serve as the captains
of different divisions including Advertising,
Promotions, Inventory, Merchandising, and
Customer Service.
Theme Team Volunteers develop
theme ideas and create dcor and activities.
Customer Service Specialists help
shoppers locate product and assist with price
checks; encourage participation in the Classroom
Wish List and All for Books programs; invite
students to enter Fair contests.
Sandwich Board Team wears promotional
sandwich boards in high-traffc areas such as the
drop-off areas and in main hallways.
Promotion Specialists develop contests,
giveaways, and prizes; coordinate faculty
challenges; write Book Fair sponsor thank-you
notes.
Book Fair Ambassadors share Book
Fair news at faculty, PTA/PTO, and community
organization meetings.
Merchandising Specialists arrange
product, displays, and signs on tables; create a
shopper-friendly environment; support theme with
props.
Child Care Providers watch small children
during Family Night.
Meet-and-Greet Volunteers encourage
families to visit the Fair and welcome guests at the
entrance.
Advertising Specialists create posters,
signs, PA announcements, commercials, and fyers;
coordinate Author Video viewings.
Music Coordinators choose and play a theme-
appropriate playlist for the Fair.
Archivists document Fair with photographs,
videos, and notes; create a scrapbook, blog, or
journal to capture memories and lessons learned
to share with everyone after the Fair and enter the
National Middle School Student Crew Contest.
Tech Support Volunteers create Book
Fair information screensavers, download Toolkit
reproducibles, and create email and school website
Book Fair campaigns.
Security Team Volunteers circulate
throughout the Fair, offering assistance while
monitoring shoppers and product; coordinate a
coat and backpack check at the Fair entrance.
Faculty Service Representatives
plan and host Teacher Sneak Peek to encourage
Classroom Wish List participation.
Inventory Specialists keep shelves and
tables organized; restock product; attach labels to
AR titles and hot picks; alert chairperson when its
time to reorder product.
