Design Methodology and Procedures

We mostly came up with all the design ideas by brainstorming and getting different
ideas mixed up into one big design. We got some of the ideas for the components through
YouTube and by watching the movie and thinking of similar ideas. We ended up using all the
components which are present in the machine because they fit in perfectly with all of the other
components more effetely than the other pervious parts from the older model which didnt
perform as well as we hoped for. We made our judgment by taking the total time interval into
consideration which would not exceed the time restriction of 15 second for each component.
We couldnt have all the components being too big nor too small because that would lead to
problems. With it being too big it might have trouble with the size constraints and being too
small would be hard to film each component individually as well it wouldnt appeal to the
audience and us in a interesting manner. Ours was bigger than we thought it would be but it
worked out perfectly for us and completed all the tasks in a proper manner. Most of the design
components are not all necessarily considered just trial and error components, except the
dominos and the parts of the plastic pipes and the clear files used as tubes. Those were tricky to
get working for the final video of all the components. All the components when fully tested are
ready to work for the final video; it shows the project is indeed ready to complete all of the
given tasks. All of the ideas for all of the components and the transition were though up by the
group and taking one idea and reconstructing it to improve the whole project overall for a
good, stable and running rube Goldberg Machine.
