The committee "Spandan" wants to start a flagship education project called "Shiksha Vikas" to provide free, quality education to underprivileged children. They face challenges like lack of interest among students and difficulties managing time. Underprivileged children face challenges such as lack of education awareness among parents, lack of funding for higher education, children needing to work, and lack of interest due to low teaching quality. Students are tasked with designing a 2 slide presentation with a proposal for their own education program, suggestions to address constraints, and a 5 year plan for "Spandan's" involvement in the program.

Spandan- a committee for social activities at SIOM has decided to start its own annual program to provide free and quality education for underprivileged children. It has named this flagship project as Shiksha Vikas. The target group might be any of these: 1. Children from slum areas. 2. Municipal Schools students. 3. Children at NGOs such as Danseva Mandal. The committee at present faces many challenges which hinders it from carrying out a project of this magnitude. Some of the constraints faced by SIOM students are: 1. Lack of interest among SIOM students. 2. Difficulty in managing time due to hectic and unplanned weekly schedules. 3. Limited or no monetary help provided to students travelling to these areas. 4. Lack of accountability and sensitivity.
A different set of constraints is present for the underprivileged children also. Some of them are: 1. Lack of awareness: Parents with little or no education awareness want their children to leave school. 2. Lack of funding: After a certain grade, Money has to be spent for higher studies. Some cannot afford this. 3. Work: Sometimes, children leave the school for work to help improve the family income. 4. Lack of interest: Children are reluctant to go for further studies due to lack of interest having experienced low teaching quality in schools.
Task: As students of SIOM, you are required to design a blueprint of this entire education program and present it on a power point presentation of not more than 2 slides per team. Your presentation should include the following: 1. Your objective: a) To prepare a proposal of your own education program b) Find out how to sensitise the SIOM students to participate for this program. b) To select a target recipient of this program, explore the feasibility and measure the outcome of the program. 2. Suggest logical solutions for the constraints given in the case. 3. Your plan for the Spandan team for the next five years with regards to this program.
(P.S.: It is expected that you design a program in the lines of organisations such as Teach for India or Pratham, Refer to http://www.teachforindia.org/ or http://www.pratham.org/ for details)
