 Lincoln has been a SAS School for 10 years
 Gifted is a schoolwide program.
 Gifted covers all Small Learning Communities
(SLCs)
 AB2313-Education appropriate to individual
capabilities.
 Develop to their highest possible level.

 Review your personal data on a regular basis
 Gifted categories #751, 752, 754
 Gifted categories: Intellectual, Specific
Academic: Math, English, Science, Social
Studies, High Achievement, Highly Gifted,
Talented (Arts), Leadership, Creativity
District Recommendations for Gifted
Students in SAS Schools

 Four years of acceleration in Gifted Area


or Area of Student Interest
 9th Grade-Honors or Advanced Placement
in Gifted Area or Area of Student Interest.
 Minimum - 1 honors class or concurrent
enrollment in 2 levels of Gifted area.

What if my Gifted Child has poor grades?

 They need motivation and support from home and


school, simultaneously.
 Many gifted students have fluctuating grades.
 It is a Myth, an untruth, that all Gifted Students
are “good” at all subjects.
 They need motivation and support from home and
school, simultaneously.

Children-”Clustered” (Cluster ratios)

Suggestions:
 Arrange for tutoring support

 Speak w/teachers and counselors-frequently

 Get permission and visit the class during class time.

 Monitor progress

 Know your child’s friends and their parents
