Math Memo

Hello Math parents,
I am going to try and send home a weekly memo of upcoming curriculum for our 3.2
class along with quiz and test dates. It is hard when most of my math class is not
in my homeroom, so this will hopefully help keep you informed.
First of all, as we have worked together these past few weeks and I have done
some assessing, I am very concerned about some students lack of mastery of
addition, subtraction, and multiplication skills. This is an area that we technically
skip in this 3.2 class. In order for your child to have been placed in my class they
tested out of the first semester of 3
rd
grade math. However, for this first 6
weeks, we will go over those high points of the first 3 units, and have a test on
those skills at the end of our study. We will move very quickly. If you see your
child becoming stressed or not understanding at home, please email me and let me
know. I will do everything I can to help your child remain in this class, but there
is also the option of moving back into the 3.1 classroom.
Skills this week:
*word problems *Drawing scaled bar and picture graphs
*multiplying 3 digit by 1 digit numbers *properties of multiplication
*determining the unknown variable in a multiplication equation: n x 5 = 25; n = ?
Quiz/Tests:
3 x test 30 problems in 2 minutes 100% (Tuesday)
4 x test and Quiz on place value, rounding, addition/subtraction - Friday
