on recycling begin in 2010 only 5% used front of store recycling bins. Although Starbucks still
have work to do since the end of 2011 18% of customers recycle. The company is working hard
to implement front of store recycling in every location by 2015. The goal is 100% customers
uses recycle bins in every location. Starbucks have showed 34 million customers have
brought in cups and saved 1.5 million pounds of paper from landfills. The company plan to
reduce cost by 5 percent in 2015 by using recycled cups.
The initiative will affect the costs by becoming a cost-neutral which means it can get a free
ride to the recycle mills. The goal is to set up recycling outside of Starbucks stores. According
to Rathbone The city of Toronto has the largest public space recycling system in the world.
The overall goal is for 70 percent of our landfills whereas currently 44 percent have been
diverted. The article states 58 billion paper cups used each year equal 645,000 tons of waste.
This means by removing cups negative 2.5 million CO2 greenhouse gases will equal 450,000
cars off the road. Starbucks are setting major goals to improve their budget they have already
shown tremendous improvements in 2012. We know 2013 will be a greater and most
