IV. Conclusion !essons learned
5essons learned from ,or0ing in groups:
Conflict is not eas+ to sol.e. In ,*ate.er ,e ,or0 and discuss. It is .er+
difficult to reac* an agreement or a consensus. ;or e1ample/ ,*en ,e discuss
,*at ,e ,ill do to prepare for t*e presentation/ a lot of time for discussing is
,asted. 3ome ,ant to ma0e a presentation/ ,*ile t*e ot*ers ,ant to act li0e a pla+
to illustrate t*e contents and principles of t*e lessons. E.er+one *as t*eir o,n
logics and con.incing t*e ot*ers is *ard. ;inall+/ ,e *ad one solution: .oting- a
piece of ad.ice gi.en in t*e course boo0. Appl+ing it/ ,e easil+ *ad one
agreement/ alt*oug* it didn7t persuade all members.
T*e participation of members: t*ere ,ere ( members in our group. 3ome are
.er+ d+namic and t*e ot*ers ,ere not. )it*out t*e participation of 2 or #
members/ t*e group couldn7t perform as ,ell as it could. T*is resulted in our bad
performance during t*e middle period of t*e course. In some meetings/ ,e
discussed ,it* # or & members. T*ere ,as al,a+s at least one or t,o members
absent. It frustrated t*e ot*er members because t*e+ t*oug*t t*at t*e absent ,ere
irresponsible for t*e group7s ,or0. In t*e end ,e *ad one strict agreement: ,*en
,e meet to ,or0/ all *ad to attend. It ,as t*e group7s pressure on members ,*o
,anted to a.oid group meetings. A lesson ,as concluded: ,it* non-participants/
MAGIC FLAME Page 5
SSG - GROUP ASSIGNMENT
,e need to use t*e group7s pressure to ma0e t*em participate. It ,or0ed .er+ ,ell
in our group.
T*irdl+/ ,e got e1perienced great times ,*en t*e group ,or0ed ,it*
consensus. It meant t*at all members understood t*e groups7 goals and tas0s. All
members are a,are of t*eir tas0s and t*eir contributions. No one ,as redundant.
)e all ,or0ed seriousl+ and *ard. After all/ ,e reali9ed t*at one consensus group
,as muc* more effecti.e t*an a normal and unmoti.ated one.
;inall+/ punctualit+/ )e all li.ed in t*e dooms. )*en ,e ,anted to meet/ ,e
all ,ent to t*e librar+. Ho,e.er/ t*e time ,as .er+ fle1ible. A meeting fi1ed at <
p.m. could *appen at <.1( or later. )e mostl+ met and discussed after,ard t*an
planned. In t*e end/ one solution ,as gi.en. "ne member ,ould p*one and tell
t*e ot*ers to go to t*e librar+ 2= minutes before t*e e1act time. And t*en/ all of
t*em ,ould attend on time. T*erefore/ t*e problem ,as sol.ed effecti.el+.
