Deportation Defense Coordinator

Job Description: The DDC will focus on building local organizing capacity to organize Free
The People (FTP) campaigns as well as identifying potential TRUST Act violations. This
position will involve the solidifying of IYCs FTP programs and providing support at the
statewide level.

Employment Type: Part- Time

Responsibilities:
Coordinate the Free the People Committee for statewide IYC
Lead and support FTP campaigns across the state of California
Write petitions and email blasts through Salsalabs for Cases
Track and monitor legal intake form responses
Write prosecutorial discretion requests for individual cases
Create a database of pro bono attorneys across California
Create flyers and other materials to support the FTP campaigns
Manage social media pages to support deportation campaigns
Conduct outreach and support outreach efforts to identify TRUST violations
Organize meetings with community members who are organizing against
deportations
Develop training materials for organizational and community trainings
Work with local IYC chapters to implement KYR trainings and FTP campaigns/ Work
closely with statewide coordinator and Development Coordinator
Work with Ally organizations to increase media and visibility for FTP cases
Update trainings to encompass TRUST Act, and LGBTQ campaigns in different
languages
Other duties assigned by development committee

Qualifications:
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a must
At least 1 year of community/youth organizing experience
Active participant in IYC or local chapter
Ability to work closely with other people and organizations
Strong Writing skills
Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple campaigns
Demonstrate the mission and vision of the IYC on paper
Creative and self driven
