Letter of Recommendation in favor of Md. Rafiqul Islam

I am glad to give this recommendation to Mr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, a direct student of mine. I
have known Md. Islam since 2002, when he was an undergraduate student of the Department
of Chemical Engineering & Polymer Science, Shahjalal University of Science & Technology,
Sylhet, Bangladesh. He was a promising student in the department and successfully
completed his B.Sc. Engineering degree. Md. Islam took three of my proposed courses at
undergraduate level: Chemical Reaction Engineering, Plant Design and Process Equipment
Design. He was a very energetic and attentive student in the class, who always made my
classes very interesting by asking outstanding questions. He did well in my courses.
Md. Islam carried out undergraduate research under my direct supervision. He was very
devoted to the research and developed a new module called ‘Submerged adsorption module’
for wastewater treatment. He presented his thesis in the department with excellent mark. He
presented a paper in the Second International Conference on Chemical Engineering, BUET,
Dhaka which has been accepted for oral presentation. He is very much capable of carrying
out research work independently as well as in a group. Any setback faced in research or
studies have never disheartened him and he has always overcome them with determination,
hard work and patience. I rank him among the top 10 percent of the students I taught in the
department during the past 10 years or so.

Md. Rafiqul Islam is an outstanding individual with a strong character. He is very polite,
cordial and friendly to all. He is a person who attracts attention of the surrounding with due
respect and does it in his own way.

I do believe that if he selected for the Master Degree program in Yuan Ze University, he will
have opportunity to demonstrate his excellence in both academic and extra curricular
activities. I strongly recommend him for admission into the Master degree programme in
Chemical Engineering & Materials Science into your reputed university.
