What Were Learning
Reading:
!We continue to introduce components of the Daily
5. The students have been doing so well that we
introduced how to choose which Daily 5 center
they will go to!
!This week we focused on letters Q-U.
!We sorted pictures of shapes and
toys/food/clothes.
!We practiced showing our thinking on sticky notes
as we read focusing on our background
information, what the story reminds us of, and facts
we have learned
!We learned two new sight words: see & like.
Math:
+ We explored with pattern blocks and learned about
rectangles and squares.
+ We reviewed counting up to five objects.
Writers Workshop:
! We are practicing how to add detail to our pictures.
! We learned how to draw people using ovals and
practiced adding clothes to the people in our
drawings.
! We wrote the letters B, R, N, & M in our
handwriting workbooks.
Social Studies:
o We talked more about feelings and acted out how
we would look as our feelings change.
o We discussed our talents and how we all enjoy
different things.

Literacy Tip: Remind your children that they ARE readers! They recognize lots of
environmental print like the large M for McDonalds, names of cereal on the boxes, their favorite
movie title, etc. Help point this out to them.
