Prime and Composite Numbers



Prime Number- A number that has only 2 factors
Ex. 13---1 x 13, therefore it only has 2 factors

Write the numbers 1-30 on a piece of paper and circle all the prime numbers

Composite Number- A number that has 2 or more factors.
Ex. 12-----1,12, 2,6, 3,4----has 6 factors

Divisibility Rules:
Number Rule
2 Number that ends in 0,2,4,6,8 is divisible by 2
3 Sum of the digits are divisible by 3
4 Last 2 digits are divisible by 4
5 Number ends in `0` or `5`
6 If the number is divisible by 2 and 3
7 No rule
8 Last 3 digits of a number are divisible by 8
9 Sum of the digits are divisible by 9
10 Ends in `0` it is divisible by 10
