Based on the data collected, the lesson was semi-effective, and could be improved for
future student learning. Based on their pre-test and post-test scores, only 40% of the girls
exceeded the objectives and 0% of the boys exceeded. All of the students scores went up on the
post-test, but that doesnt mean that they did the best that they could have after the experiment. I
think to improve the scores the grouping should have been done differently. Some of the groups
were only boys, and they mainly just wanted to play with the magnetic slime instead of actually
learning what the experiment was about. The groups that were made up of mostly girls were
more patient and didnt want to play around as much as the boys. In this type of grouping where
there were more girls than boys, the boys wanted to do all the work, so the girls had to sit back
and just watch, so I believe that they were retaining more of the information by watching the
procedures. By grouping the students differently I think the scores would have been higher for
the boys on the post-test.
