The Magna Senior Center Advisory Council Elections are Coming Up
and We Need You to Get Involved!!
The Magna Senior Center Advisory Council is made up of senior participants who regularly attend
the center and want to make a difference. The Advisory Council supports the center by helping plan
activities, organize fundraising, greet new people, organize service projects in the community,
decorate the center, and plans trips. If elected you will serve a two year term and be expected to
attend a monthly meeting, chair a committee and have lots of fun!

Coming Next Month:: • In January Grand Opening of the New Magna Kennecott Senior Center, date to be
announced some time in December.

Happy Birthday! Senior Volunteer Spotlighted for the Month of December 2009

1 William Hunzeker Ron Torrez was born on 21st April 1946 in Williams, Ari-
Jeanne Petty zona to Pressi C. and Lugi Maria Torrez. Ron was an only
Sam Mulliner child. Ron attended Williams Elementary, Middle and High
2 Darlene Cambra School. Ron attended Phoenix College in Arizona and SL
3 Dessie Barber Trade School (now SLCC). Ron worked at the South Rim of
James Holfeltz the Grand Canyon with the maintenance crew and them
Phyllis Pollock worked in the warehouse. When Ron came to Utah he got a
5 Sherrie Holsten job for the State of Utah in the Department of Transportation on the main-
Melvin Felts tenance crew and was there for fifteen years in the warehouse. After Ron
LaGrand Nielsen stopped working for UDOT he worked at the Glendale Youth Center as a
6 Dorothy Christopherson Youth Coordinator for eight years. While working these jobs Ron worked
Nadine Williams part time at the U of U as an usher for the sporting events. Ron met Bertha
7 Dick Bingham while working at the Grand Canyon and they were married in 1968 in
8 Mary Ann Earls Phoenix, Arizona. The have three children, one daughter, Lisa 40, and two
11 Michael Dusserre sons, Ronald Jr. 39 and Luther 37. They have 1 grandson and 4 grand-
12 Irene Shackelford daughters. Ron and Bertha have lived on the border of Magna in the same
13 Glenda Gunn home for 38 years. Ron has been coming to the Center for about two years
LaValla Meyer and is a member of the Advisory Council. Ron enjoys visiting with the
14 Carol Hathaway seniors here at the Center. Ron likes to try new menus, volunteering, all
Elise Nuesmeyer sports (especially running). Ron especially likes to make home made
15 Pamela Dierx juices and with the pulp he makes different dishes. Ron’s words of advice
